BECOMING

I haven’t always been a runner…

Actually I couldn’t think of anything worse for most of my life.

I always loved being a part of a team. But I wasn’t a sporty kid by no means.

Overweight for most of my childhood, and from a very humble background, I did not have the luxury of after school clubs. As a young woman growing up in Rio de Janeiro, “going for a run” was positively dangerous to put it mildly.

So when in 2016 I decided to do something for charity, in memory of my grandmother, surely running was the obvious answer.

It definitely wasn’t love at first stride. Running is bloody hard.

And it wasn’t until I could not run (following a broken knee) that I first called myself a “runner”. But now close to 10 years from when it all started, I can safely say running is my longest love affair. It keeps me grounded, but it has also given me the highest of highs. It shaped me as a person, and it keeps showing me that I can do more and go further than I ever believed possible.

And I challenge you to fall in love with it too! That’s why I want to share these resources, reflections and insights with you! 🤗

“I run because long after my footprints fade away, maybe I will have inspired a few to reject the easy path, hit the trails, put one foot in front of the other, and come to the same conclusion I did: I run because it always takes me where I want to go.”
